📖 DETAILED EXPLANATIONS
Q1. Answer: A — ₹1,800
Simple Interest = (Principal × Rate × Time) / 100
= (15,000 × 6 × 2) / 100
= ₹1,800.
Q2. Answer: B — 30 seconds
Total distance = Length of train + Length of platform
= 180 + 270 = 450 metres.
Speed = 54 × 5/18 = 15 m/s.
Time = Distance / Speed
= 450/15 = 30 seconds.
Q3. Answer: C — 35
Total of six numbers = 32 × 6 = 192.
Sum of five numbers:
= 28 + 31 + 35 + 29 + 34
= 157.
Sixth number = 192 − 157 = 35.
Q4. Answer: D — 20%
Increase in price = ₹900 − ₹750 = ₹150.
Percentage increase = (150/750) × 100
= 20%.
Q5. Answer: E — ₹1,025
For half-yearly compounding:
Rate per half-year = 10/2 = 5%.
Number of compounding periods = 2.
Amount = 10,000 × (1.05)²
= ₹11,025.
Compound Interest = 11,025 − 10,000
= ₹1,025.
Q6. Answer: A — 6 days
Combined one-day work:
= 1/10 + 1/15
= 3/30 + 2/30
= 5/30 = 1/6.
Time required = 6 days.
Q7. Answer: B — 26
Let the three consecutive even numbers be:
x, x + 2 and x + 4.
x + (x + 2) + (x + 4) = 72
3x + 6 = 72
3x = 66
x = 22.
The numbers are 22, 24 and 26.
Largest number = 26.
Q8. Answer: C — ₹2,160
Price after first discount:
= 3,000 × 80/100
= ₹2,400.
Second discount = 10% of ₹2,400
= ₹240.
Final selling price = 2,400 − 240
= ₹2,160.
Q9. Answer: D — 48
Series: 3, 8, 15, 24, 35.
Differences: 5, 7, 9, 11.
Next difference = 13.
Next number = 35 + 13 = 48.
Q10. Answer: E — 14
Anil's position from the top = 11th.
Bina's position from the top:
= 40 − 15 + 1
= 26th.
Students between them:
= 26 − 11 − 1
= 14.
Q11. Answer: A — 6 metres South
The 8 metres towards the West and 8 metres towards the East cancel each other.
The person is therefore 6 metres South of the starting point.
Q12. Answer: B — ORDQ
Each letter is shifted forward by three places.
B → E
A → D
N → Q
K → N
Applying the same rule:
L → O
O → R
A → D
N → Q
Therefore, LOAN = ORDQ.
Q13. Answer: C — C
The arrangement is:
B – A – C – D – E
C occupies the third position and therefore stands in the middle.
Q14. Answer: D — Some pens are papers
Some pens are books.
All books are papers.
Therefore, the pens that are books must also be papers.
Hence, some pens are papers logically follows.
Q15. Answer: E — Brief
