2. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ GDP โ€” GROWTH MOMENTUM REMAINS STRONG

Real GDP grew 7.8% in Q1 FY2026-27.

Real GVA growth was 8.2%.

Nominal GDP growth was 10.3%.

๐Ÿ“Œ IMPORTANT

GDP measures the value of final goods and services produced.

GVA measures value added by producers across economic activities.

๐ŸŽฏ BANKER CONNECT

Strong economic growth can support:

Credit demand โ†’ Investment โ†’ Employment โ†’ Income โ†’ Consumption

But banks must simultaneously monitor:

Inflation + Asset Quality + Capital + Liquidity

โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”โ”

At its August 2026 meeting, the MPC kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and retained a neutral stance.

๐Ÿ“Œ DO NOT CONFUSE

Repo Rate = policy lending rate

SDF = absorption facility

MSF = overnight emergency borrowing facility

CRR = cash balance maintained with RBI

SLR = prescribed liquid assets maintained by banks

5. ๐Ÿ“… OCTOBER MPC โ€” DECISION AWAITS

The next MPC meeting is scheduled for:

๐Ÿ“… 5โ€“7 October 2026

Recent inflation and global developments have increased attention on the meeting.

A Reuters poll reported that about 60% of economists surveyed expected a 25-basis-point increase, but this is an economist expectationโ€”not an RBI decision.

๐Ÿ“Œ IBR RULE

Current Repo Rate = 5.25%

Any October change should be reported only after the MPC announcement.

๐ŸŽฏ EXAM CONNECT

MPC decision depends on:

Inflation + Growth + Liquidity + Global conditions + Financial stability

The operations are part of RBI's effort to manage surplus liquidity following large foreign-currency inflows.
